Academic Planning
Your child’s academic success is very important to us. As you begin planning for your move to our school, here is some information about how we will assess and evaluate your child to ensure we meet their academic needs. We use the Ready Math and Reading curriculum. These both come with a digital platform that we use for individualized instruction and diagnostic data to help our students grow. When your child joins the VLE family, we will use these diagnostic iReady assessments to determine their academic strengths and weaknesses to help our teachers best meet your child’s instructional needs. In addition, we use the STAR assessment to determine their reading levels and the AR reading program to grow their skills and love of reading. Our teachers are dedicated to meeting our students where they are and growing them academically through high-quality instruction and learning resources. Below is a list of the curriculum and instructional resources we have available to help grow your child on the path to academic success:
- Clever learning app manager
- HMH Into Reading, Ready Math and Ready Reading curriculum
- iReady digital platform for reading and math
- Renaissance AR reading book quizzes
Other learning resources may include:
- Nearpod
- MobyMax
- Flocabulary
- Happy Numbers
- Quizizz
- Kahoot
Your child will have a school account login and password that will access their Clever page which has all of their learning programs and apps in one convenient place for easy access both at school and at home.
All of the programs we use align with the Mississippi College and Career-Ready Standards. To see what is being taught for each grade level, click here.
